You join us in June - that sunny strip of beach between Spring and Summer. Festival season is just around the corner and we’re getting giddy - not least to share our latest inspiration from the world of art, design, literature and our old friend the internet.
Speaking of which, our new website is now live - a brand new home for our case studies, news, opinions, and some of our favourite Giants in the industry. Check it out here.
June’s giant ideas
Our favourite projects, exhibitions and interventions
● Feel the sound - vibrations, frequencies and epic bass - exploring how sound is much more than an audio experience at theBarbican
From body-shaking car boot subwoofers to frequencies that have been rumoured to change the cellular structure of your body, this is an immersive and sensory exploration into sound and its effects on the body. The experience includes an installation by electronic music producer Max Cooper, that offers listeners a “full body massage” of reverberations. We have been lucky enough to work with Max on our Observatory projects and look forward to doing so again in the future. Grab your tickets on the Barbican website.

● 10 Gram Challenge - sublime small-scale sculpture from 40+ leading artists
Take a look at what happened when more than 40 sculptors including Anthony Gormley, Grayson Perry and Conrad Shawcross were invited to create works of art from a 10 gram block of wax. Fiddly, fascinating stuff…

Giant of the month: Maetherea
Each month we bring you one of our favourite artists or designers. These are people who inspire us constantly with their creativity. Sometimes we’re even lucky enough to work with them.

This month we’re introducing Maetherea, a multi-disciplinary collective studio led by Cristina Morbi. Specifically, we were blown away by their recent project Lithic Chords which featured at this year’s Venice Architecture Biennale.
Lithic Chords explores the sonic, expressive and expressive potential of stone, taking the form of a 21-metre-long stone structure. The installation provides both a communal space and an acoustic instrument, merging an architectural space with an audio experience (right up our street, as you might have guessed).
Don’t miss the opportunity to check out more of their projects. We recently submitted Maetherea for a public sculpture at Silverstone Park which has been successfully commissioned and were lucky enough to work with them for our commissioning and installation of the Norfolk Art Trail. There’s a mindfulness to their structures that works beautifully with nature - it’s sculpture that will make you feel connected to the environment and the spaces in which they exist.
